“Resistance to High Stakes Tests Serves the Cause of Equity in Education”

Delaware PTA is pleased to announce that we have joined a coalition of national and state civil rights and education advocacy groups to bring awareness and education to the damaging effects that high stakes testing has on equity in education in our public education system.  The Network for Public Education’s Board of Directors, in conjunction with Jesse Hagopian recently released statements in response to the Leadership Conference statement opposing the opt out movement. You can read both statements here.

The statements will be re-released as a coalition next week. We will post this statement on our website, Twitter and Facebook.

This statement will be critical to larger conversations taking place at the national level in regards to the reauthorization of ESEA. In the interim, at the state level, you can contact the members of the Senate Education Committee and ask them to release HB 50 from the committee. Feel free to share this information with them as well.
