State PTA President Dr. Terri Hodges and VP of Advocacy Yvonne Johnson Honored for Years of Service Alexandria, VA. (October 18, 2016) – National PTA is proud to announce Dr. Terri Hodges and Yvonne Johnson as the latest recipients of National PTA’s Life Achievement Award, the highest honor given to PTA members and leaders. The National PTA Life Achievement Award recognizes a person who lives out his or her commitment to children on a daily basis and tirelessly advocates for children’s education, health and well-being. We are excited to tell you that DPTA will be awarding grants to local units that are in good standing (up to $500 per unit).  The total amount that will be granted for the 2016-17 school year is $5,000. Why??  DPTA wants to support units that are promoting PTA programs.  These programs are: Student and School Success (Family Engagement) (e.g., school events for families, advocacy) Health and Safety (e.g., after-prom, walk-a-thons) Arts in Education (e.g., Reflections, after school art program) Not sure what these programs are?  Information is at the top of the application.  Or log onto the National PTA Back-to-School

Delaware PTA, in partnership with the Delaware Department of Education, will host two free workshops on ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). These workshops are an additional forum for parents and teachers to learn more about ESSA, ask questions and provide feedback.  The workshop is open to all PTA parents, teachers and school administration.
