The clock is ticking and we need to continue to apply pressure to oppose the proposed education budget cuts. Our schools and students simply cannot afford these steep cuts. The Education Funding Campaign has planned a rally for Tuesday June 20. As a coalition partner, Delaware PTA will be part of the rally. President of the Christina PTA Council Mary Schorse will speak at the rally on behalf of Delaware PTA. We strongly encourage all students, parents, teachers and community members to come out and join the rally. We need to support those legislators that are resisting the education cuts.

Dear PTA Leaders, On May 25, the U.S. Senate’s deadline to receive Dear Colleague letters closed and  we are happy to announce that this year PTA was able to garner a bipartisan group of 28 Senators to sign on to the Dear Colleague letter in support of funding for Statewide Family Engagement Centers (SFECs), which is 6 more Senators than we had on last year’s letter. This is a huge accomplishment that could not be done without all of your hard work and advocacy efforts at the local and state levels.  Great job everyone and thank you for all that

As you know the Governor’s proposed budget cuts pose a serious threat to public education in Delaware. It is imperative that everyone contact their local legislators and urge them to reject the proposed budget. On behalf of the Education Funding Campaign, we are sharing the attached call script with you to use when contacting your local legislators. A letter template will also be available shortly for you to email your representative. It is time we invest in our future, not destroy it. Our students, teachers and schools simply cannot afford this type of “shared sacrifice” – haven’t they already sacrificed

People often use the names PTA and PTO interchangeably. The fact is, PTA and PTO are two completely different groups.  PTO is a generic acronym for groups not affiliated with PTA.
