Gallaher Elementary PTA to Host a Night with PTA: Parent Opt Out Info Session

  Gallaher PTA is hosting a Parent Information Night with Delaware PTA to discuss the Parent Opt Out and the Smarter Balanced Assessments. Members from the Delaware State PTA will present updates on the Parent Opt Out as well as provide an overview of the new assessments. The parent information night will take place on Thursday March 19th at 7:00 pm at Gallaher Elementary School.   Delaware PTA is excited to announce our 2015 Youth Summit – Student Voices Heard in public education.  This Summit will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Middletown High School.  ALL students from across the state in grades 7th through 12th are invited!    This fun-filled, daylong event is all about students, their experiences in the classrooms and their vision for meeting their educational needs.    More will be coming soon about registration and event details.  In the meanwhile, please mark your calendars and share the date with young people you know!    We need their voices on Saturday, April 25th!   Register Today

House of Representatives to Vote on ESEA Re-authorization This Week

The House of Representatives will vote this week on The Student Success Act (H.R. 5) to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act—No Child Left Behind (ESEA-NCLB). The time is now for Congress to hear your voice,Take Action! Congress needs to hear that PTA supports: Safeguarding all family engagement provisions, modeled—in part—from the Family Engagement in Education Act. Adequate authorization levels to support critically important programs. The exclusion of any provision that would create or lead to a private school voucher, including Title I portability funding. U.S. Army Signs Memorandum of Understanding With National PTA

In support of the U.S. Army’s continued commitment to education, the U.S. Army Marketing and Research Group (AMRG) and National PTA entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), formalizing the collaboration between the two organizations and their shared dedication to the education and development of our nation’s youth. The MOU provides a framework for ongoing collaboration in support of the nation’s parents, school administrators and educators. NPTA to testify on student data and privacy issues

PTA Advocates: Tomorrow, February 12, 2015, National PTA Vice President of Advocacy, Shannon Sevier will testify before the House Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education on behalf of National PTA.
