Delaware PTA, in partnership with the Delaware Department of Education, will host two free workshops on ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). These workshops are an additional forum for parents and teachers to learn more about ESSA, ask questions and provide feedback.  The workshop is open to all PTA parents, teachers and school administration. The arts and Delaware PTA Reflections support student success and serve as a valuable tool for engaging families and building strong partnerships in the school community.  Founded in 1969, Reflections engages nearly 300,000 students and their families in arts education activities each year by encouraging students to explore the arts for fun and recognition.   REFLECT on the theme, CREATE art.  BE RECOGNIED Pre-kindergarten through grade 12 students are encouraged to submit original works of art in one or more of the following categories: Literature Musical Composition Film Production Photography Visual Arts Dance Choreography   Students with disabilities may receive special accommodations

We are excited to tell you that DPTA will be awarding grants to local units that are in good standing (up to $500 per unit).  The total amount that will be granted for the 2016-17 school year is $5,000. Why??  DPTA wants to support units that are promoting PTA programs.  These programs are: Student and School Success (Family Engagement) (e.g., school events for families, advocacy) Health and Safety (e.g., after-prom, walk-a-thons) Arts in Education (e.g., Reflections, after school art program) Not sure what these programs are?  Information is at the top of the application.  Or log onto the National PTA

Promoting the Value of PTA – School of Excellence – the deadline to sign up is Oct. 1.  This is a wonderful program to bring parents and educators together for the benefit of student success. Reflections – “What’s your Story?” We strongly encourage local units to sign up for the Reflections Program. We offer support at the state and national level.  One of the easiest is the eLearning course which explains the program. Funding Opportunities – Go Fund Me – deadline closes Sept. 16th.  Local units can sign up to start a campaign to benefit a teacher or a classroom. They

Have you reported your new officers for the 2016-17 school year? Now the process is easier than ever and only takes about 5 minutes!! You can submit your new officers online at https://delawarepta.org/running-your-pta-4/running-your-pta-2/ You’ll find the 2016-17 New Officers Reporting form under Section II Remember, reporting new officers is required to remain a unit in compliance. This also ensures that you receive timely information regarding programs, grants, trainings and other resources to ensure the successful running of your unit. Our region VPs will be reaching out to any unit that has not submitted this information.

Surveys are open through October 3rd and discussion group nominations close on September 9th
