Congratulations to the recipients of the 2019 Delaware PTA scholarships! They have each received a $500 scholarship.
Brendan Chellew is a 2019 graduate of St. George’s Technical HS, where he studied Technical Drafting. He played Varsity Lacrosse for four years and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is a Boy Scout with Troop 301 and recently finished his Eagle Scout project which entailed replacing a fence in Historic Odessa. During his senior year he completed a 6 month co-op job at Dixon Valve in Chestertown, MD as a drafting assistant. He’s excited to become a Hokie at Virginia Tech, where he plans to study Mechanical Engineering.
Chris Chellew is a 2019 graduate of St. George’s Technical HS, where he studied Culinary Arts. He is a three sport athlete; participating in Varsity Cross Country, JV/Varsity Lacrosse and travel Hockey for the Junior Blue Hens. He is a Boy Scout with Troop 301 and recently finished his Eagle Scout project which entailed reupholstering 250 chairs for VFW Post 3792 in Townsend. During his senior year, he worked a co-op job for Casapulla’s Subs in Middletown. He’s going to continue his family’s Blue Hen legacy when he attends University of Delaware this Fall, studying Hotel and Restaurant Management.
Simone Josey is a diploma candidate for the International Baccalaureate Program at Mount Pleasant High School, graduating in June of 2019. She holds a 4.3 GPA and is placed within the top 10 percent of her class. Simone will be attending North Carolina A&T State University where she will major in Biomedical Engineering. She aspires to be the founder and CEO of her own medical technology company that will reach out to diverse groups of people in need of medical attention. Simone hopes that her company will thrive, becoming the future of advanced prosthetics, medical devices, and disease curing implants.

Delaware PTA currently offers scholarships to graduating Delaware seniors that are PTA members. These scholarships are funded from our Delaware VIP membership program and is available to any qualifying Delaware senior pursuing a post-secondary degree at any accredited US college or university.
