DOE REQUESTS ONE-YEAR DELAY OF STATE ASSESSMENT IMPACT ON TEACHER EVALUATION

  Dover – As Delaware introduces a new state test this spring, the Department of Education (DOE) is proposing to request a further delay the federal requirement that educator evaluations use results from these assessments. Last year, DOE requested and obtained a delay for the test’s first year, recognizing the challenges of switching to Smarter Balanced – a more thorough assessment aligned to the Common Core college and career ready standards. Gallaher Elementary PTA to Host a Night with PTA: Parent Opt Out Info Session

  Gallaher PTA is hosting a Parent Information Night with Delaware PTA to discuss the Parent Opt Out and the Smarter Balanced Assessments. Members from the Delaware State PTA will present updates on the Parent Opt Out as well as provide an overview of the new assessments. The parent information night will take place on Thursday March 19th at 7:00 pm at Gallaher Elementary School.
