Youth Involvement in PTA

  On January 11, 2014, Delaware PTA Student Ambassador Leah O’Neill joined students from around the country in a Student Engagement Virtual Town Hall hosted by the National PTA Youth Involvement Committee. Participants had an opportunity to share ideas and strategies on creating a new wave of PTA/PTSA student leaders, increasing student involvement at the National level and the development of programs that target the youth population. . O’Neill will be working on developing an action plan for involving more Delaware youth in PTA.

Every Child In Focus

Every Child In Focus – December: Special Education Special Education ToolKit Every Child in Focus reinforces National PTA’s mission to advocate for every child—with one voice—so all families feel invited and welcomed within PTA, and are equipped with the tools to support their child and improve the school, which makes a difference for every child. Each month PTA will spotlight the educational issues surrounding a particular group, highlight their accomplishments and focus on ways to help foster Family-School Partnerships. Six educators from across the state are being honored for outstanding teaching in mathematics and science. The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) is the highest recognition that a K-12 mathematics or science teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. Established by Congress in 1983 and administered for the White House by the National Science Foundation, the Presidential Awards allow for each state to select mathematics teachers and science teachers as state finalists. Those finalists then vie for the state title the following year.
